Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton Led Legion XIII at First Liv Team Championship

Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton each have to observe the second hole in a unique playoff series in the Liv golf team championship and raised the Legion XIII trophy on Sunday at the end of a long week in Plymouth, Mich.
The Legion XIII of Rahm and the GC Crushers of Bryson Dechambeau each finished 18 racing game holes 20 under the cardinal of Saint John’s, requiring the playoffs. Each team sent two players to sudden death – Rahm and Hatton for Legion XIII, Dechambeau and Paul Casey in England for Crushers.
During the first replay of the 18th hole par-4, Hatton Birdied for Legion XIII and Dechambeau did the same for the crushers that each team finished a 1 under the peer. They returned to the 18th TEE, but Legion XIII made sure that the playoffs would not last much longer.
Rahm and Hatton, the players’ players from Spain and England, respectively, stuck their approach and sorters. Dechambeau and Casey both settled for the PAR, putting the victory in the 13th and the brand new Golf Liv franchise.
“It is always difficult to put words,” said Rahm. “Neither Tyrrell nor I have a great day today, and even throughout the week, I don’t think we played our best. But the young guys were somehow a strength of force playing well and there today too. They transported us to the end.”
Rahm abandoned the PGA Tour for Liv Golf on a massive contract before the 2024 season, and Hatton followed to join the Rahm team. Rahm won the individual title last year but could not participate in the team championship due to a disease.
This year, Rahm repeated as an individual champion and followed this by guiding Legion XIII to his first team title. They won $ 14 million which will be divided between the franchise and the individual players – Rahm, Hatton, Caleb Surratt and Tom McKibbin in Northern Ireland.
“The golf course was there to get somehow, and everyone played really well, which was cool,” said McKibbi.
It was neither Rahm nor Hatton but Surratt who displayed the best score of the day for the XIII Legion. He pulled a 64 under 64, while McKibbin and Rham had 65s and Hatton at 66.
“I think that towards the end of the week, you just feel a feeling of urgency to go out and take it,” said Surratt, 21. “It was a bit of my words today, and I was really proud of this Sunday.”
Dechambeau tried to transport crushers to their second title in three years. He pulled a Bogey without Bogey, 8-sous 62 Sunday, the best round of all the players in the championship tranche. The anirban lahiri of Casey and India displayed 65s and Charles Howell III at 68.
Three teams qualified for the tournament championship tranche via match matches on Friday and Saturday. The third team was the Stinger GC in South Africa, captain by Louis Oosthizen. They finished eight shots from Legion XIII and Crushers, while Dean Burmester displayed a 5-mine of 65, Charl Schwartzel at 66, Branden Grace A 67 and Oosthizen at 70.
Smash GC, captain of Brooks Koepka, took 18 years on Sunday to take fourth place in the second level classification tranche against Hyflyers (fifth) and Torque (sixth). Dustin Johnson piloted 4Ands GC in the seventh advance on fireballs (eighth) and Ripper (ninth). The last three were sips, majestic and key.
The tournament concluded the fourth season of Liv Golf, and the League plans to return for a fifth with a calendar of 14 events which was partially published.
