The actress went to Instagram Stories on June 11 to approach the controversy that followed a recent interview given by Munn, during which she mentioned that she does not leave their children – Malcolm, three years old and eight months – the videos of Mrs. Rachel, eight months old.
“An innocent comment that my wife Olivia Munn made on the children’s programs we love,” wrote Mulaney, “was somehow incredibly confused with the fact of not worrying about the death of children in Gaza.”
The 42 -year -old said that the reaction quickly intensified, leading to violent and threatening direct messages targeting Munn and their children.
“The people who do this are so madly offline and so useless for any conversation,” he continued. “You have taken a comment nothing in a dark and dangerous place. This kind of behavior is not activism.”
The initial commentary came from an interview published by PEOPLE On June 8, in which Munn explained why Ms. Rachel – whose real name is Rachel Griffin Accuro – is not a regular characteristic in their household.
“I know children love [Ms. Rachel]”She said at the time.
“But the thing is that if I can’t look at it, I’m not going to spend the rest of my life going crazy. These children’s programs are driving me crazy.” The article has since been deleted PEOPLEAlthough no reason has been provided.
Ms. Rachel, who publicly pleaded for humanitarian aid for children in Gaza, addressed the titles that followed the interview.
In an Instagram comment shared on June 9, she wrote: “I prefer that you cover my plea for children in Gaza.” She clearly indicated that her words were not intended to target Munn, adding: “I don’t care that she does not want to watch the show” and offered “all my love to her and her family”.
Munn also shared her own message on June 10, expressing that she did not expect her comment to be misinterpreted in this way.
“My comments have never been supposed to decrease the joy, comfort and the impact it brings to so many families,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. “I don’t want something to get out of context to be a moment that even steals a minute of joy for anyone.”
What started as a simple remark on personal parental preferences quickly turned into a heated line debate. But Mulaney and Munn clearly indicated that they hoped to refocus the conversation on understanding and support, not division.
