JJ Watt drops a message to 1 word while the buccaneers reveal the return uniform in 1976 for the home opener

The Buccaneers of Tampa Bay announced that they refer their original 1976 jerseys for the coming season to commemorate the 50th season of the franchise. The return uniforms obtained a big boost from one of the best defensive players in the League of all time.

JJ Watt played 12 seasons in the NFL, the last two with the rivals of the South NFC of the Bucs, the Cardinals of Arizona. Watt had a simple response to the jerseys revealed by the Buccaneers on X Tuesday:

“Spectacular.”

Retro Bucs jerseys are mainly white with the occasional orange strip lined with red lines.

In a press release on the BUCS website, the director of the team’s operation, Brian Ford, said:

“The 76 jersey represents a piece in the history of the Buccaneers and pays tribute to the generations of fans and players who shaped this franchise.”

Each jersey will include a special 50th season patch. There are also helmets from the time of the cream to associate with white pants and striped socks.

In addition, the design presented the words “Hey! Hey! Tampa Bay!” Sewn on the inner collar. It was a cry at the first fight song of the club, which made its debut in 1979, the first season when they made the playoffs. They also won their first eliminatory match in the history of the team this season, beating the Eagles of Philadelphia 24-17 in the Division Channel.

The return jerseys will be worn by current players for the first time on September 21, when they welcome New York Jets at Raymond James Stadium.

Return jerseys are a unique thing

Although these new return jerseys mean a large part of the history of the club, they will not be very long. Bucs marketing director James Ruth says that these uniforms, being there for a single season, make them extremely special.

“To be able to hold them back until our 50th season, so that it is a one -year jersey, feels really special,” said Ruth.

“So we are so excited to be able to celebrate the last 50 seasons of Buccaneers, and using this jersey is a unique opportunity to do so,” he added.

The team will also bring out orange cream jerseys on December 11 when they welcome division competitors, the Falcons of Atlanta, for football on Thursday evening.
