Jhon Duran joins Fenerbahce on loan after six months in Al-Nassr

Colombian striker Jhon Duran joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce on a loan of a season, only six months after his large -scale passage to the Saudi Sadi League Al Nassr side.

The 21 -year -old moved to Turkey this week, following a whirlwind of a few months which left Aston Villa in January for 77 million euros (64.5 million pounds sterling), including the additional modules.

Duran wrote a five and a half year contract with Al Nassr, but should now continue its development under Jose Mourinho in Istanbul.

During his short time in Saudi Arabia, Duran impressed by scoring 12 goals out of 18 appearances, helping Al Nassr in third place in the 2024-25 season – possible champions al Ittihad by 13 points.

Fenerbahce, meanwhile, hopes that the addition of Duran will be able to provide the attacker’s boost that they lacked. The club ended the Super Lig season as a finalist for a fourth consecutive year, finishing 11 points behind the Galatasaray rivals.

The first season of Mourinho in charge also saw the club release both the Turkish Cup and the Europa League in the quarter -final and at the end of 16 stages respectively.

Club managers are optimistic that Duran’s arrival could reproduce the impact of the signing of the successful loan from Galatasaray from Victor Osimhen last season – the Nigerian striker scored 37 goals during the campaign.

Before his move to Al Nassr, Duran had been on the sidelines of the departure alignment at Aston Villa under Unai Emery. Despite limited departures – only seven in total – he still managed 12 goals in 29 appearances during the first half of the season.

Overall, Duran collected 20 goals in 78 games for the Midlands team, who signed it from the holding of MLS Chicago Fire in January 2023 for up to 17.75 million pounds sterling.

The interest in the young attacker had been strong before his release from January, with West Ham winning an offer rejected in the summer of 2024. They returned to the winter window with a second offer of 57 million pounds Sterling, which was again refused by Villa.

In Al Nassr, Duran joined a starred team that includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte. Ronaldo, now 40, recently extended his stay in Riyadh with a new two -year contract keeping him at the club until the age of 42.

There was also a movement behind the scenes of the Pirogue of Al Nassr. Head coach Stefano Pioli left at the end of the campaign, and speculations bound the former boss of Fenerbahce, Jorge Jesus, with a return.
