Palmeiras are keen to sign Wolves striker Jhon Arias.

The player has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club this month, with the Brazilian club reportedly preparing a bid to sign him. However, a report from Globo Esporte claims that Fluminense could have a say in any potential decision. Arias left Fluminense not long ago, and they have a priority clause inserted into his contract, and they might consider exercising the option if Arias returns to Brazilian football.

Fluminense keen on Jhon Arias

Fluminense president Mattheus Montenegro has confirmed that the club could consider bringing the player back. It remains to be seen how the situation evolves.

“As far as Arias is concerned, he’s a player who left here not long ago. It’s a conversation that happens frequently,” he said. “We became aware of the interest from Palmeiras and other clubs. There has always been interest from clubs all over Brazil. He is a spectacular player.

“But in Arias’ contract we have a priority clause. We must be informed. Our plan is to exercise this priority,” he revealed. “We don’t know the value yet, but we have a plan in place to exercise it. I can’t guarantee we will exercise it, because we don’t know the value, but we are planning for it.”

Wolves are currently fighting for survival in the Premier League. It remains to be seen whether they are prepared to let the Brazilian leave the club mid-season. This could be a devastating blow for them. They need to start collecting points if they want to compete next season. They are currently at the bottom of the rankings.

Arias is a talented player and could be useful to Wolves in the second half of the campaign. It remains to be seen how the situation will evolve.
