James Gunn shares his honest point of view on the new DC film, “Superman”

James Gunn recently shared his honest point of view on a new DC film, Superman.
While speaking to Deadline at the world first on July 7, the writer and director discussed his “lighter” approach to DC Comics superheroes which returns to “color and joy” of its origins.
“In some ways, it’s lighter. But there are also a lot of heavy things in the film,” said the 58 -year -old man.
James worried about Zack Snyder’s courage on the role in Man of Steel (2013), Batman c. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017).
However, the new CEO of DC Studios believed that the “character himself was lighter”.
James noted that Superman, who is also called Clark Kent, “is a non -dysfunctional family, he has parents who love him, he grows in a loving house with support and an emotional presence of his parents, and he is the result.
“And I think he is a pretty well adjusted guy because of this. However, he also has his faults,” said the filmmaker.
Interestingly, James admitted that he “loved the color and joy of the comics that I liked to grow, and I wanted to impregnate this film with this feeling”.
In a separate interview with GQ Magazine, the director addressed speculation that Superman must be a box office blockbuster.
The writer / director, who is also the co-chief of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, opened that the film of the franchise “Tentpole Movie has never included as much pressure in the studio as criticism thought.
“They only hear these figures that the film will only succeed if it earns $ 700 million or something and that it is just complete and absolute,” said James.
He added: “He doesn’t need to be as important as people say.”
Meanwhile, Superman will be released in theaters on July 11.
