The New York Islanders will host the 2027 NHL All-Star Weekend at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, the league announced Friday.

The move follows the NHL’s cancellation of its planned Olympic farewell event at UBS Arena in February.

The Islanders had already won the 2026 All-Star Game, but it was canceled after the league opted not to hold the game in the same year as the Winter Olympics. The proposed weekend would then turn into a pre-Olympic event. However, this was also adopted by the boards of directors.

The cancellations angered New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who expressed her disappointment to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman in a letter and called on the league to “host a hockey event with equal or greater economic activity and cultural value in the region in 2027.”

Championship games will be paused Feb. 6-24 to accommodate the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The last time NHL players competed in the Olympics was in 2014, when Canada won gold in Sochi, Russia.

The Islanders have hosted the NHL All-Star Game on a previous occasion. Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky was named MVP of the 1983 All-Star Game while leading the Campbell Conference All-Stars to a 9-3 victory over the Wales Conference at Nassau Coliseum.

All-Star Weekend is scheduled to begin on February 5, 2027.
