At least eight people were killed and 18 others injured in an explosion that struck a mosque in an Alawite neighborhood of Syria’s Homs province on Friday, state media reported. The Islamist militant group Saraya Ansar al-Sunna claimed responsibility for the attack. Formed after the ouster of former President Bashar al-Assad, the group claimed responsibility for an attack on a church in Damascus in June.
