It’s fantastic to have again testing cricket on the horizon – Andrew White

In an official statement, the Irish selector Andrew White expressed his enthusiasm for the Irish team playing the next test games and explained:

“It’s fantastic to test cricket again on the horizon – and with that, we are delighted to see CADE Carmichael enter the test team after its ODI debut against the Antilles earlier this year. Not only had he had an excellent season, but he also demonstrated the qualities necessary to be an international cricket player in this format.

“Cade has compiled an excellent century against Afghanistan has in a four-day match in the water in a four-day match this year, and anyone who looks at his two ODI appearances against the Antilles will have noticed his composure and his technical capacity against the rapid bowling.

“Stephen Doheny is another player who has had a good national season and has demonstrated a number of technical changes which, we hope, will allow him to succeed in the future.”

Andrew White has also focused on managing their players’ workload while they are heading for Bangladesh, where conditions should be humid. He said:

“It is likely that we will need all our sailors through consecutive tests. Given the recent number of injuries we have managed, and the volume of cricket in the coming months, we will need to proactively manage the group in what will undoubtedly be hot and humid conditions.

“In terms of the T20 team, the probability is that Spin will play a more important role – so Gareth Delary, Matthew Humphreys and Ben White should offer options in this area. And with Mark Adair and Josh Little Returning at the squad, Graham Hume is done in a way on this occasion.
