Rté will not participate in the 2026 Eurovision song competition “if Israel’s participation goes ahead,” the Irish broadcaster announced.
In a press release, Rté said that Ireland’s participation in the event “would be unreasonable given the loss of life current and appalling in Gaza”.
Ireland won the competition seven times in total, more recently in 1996.
Rté will make a final decision once the European Union of Radiation will make its decision.
