Instagram now requires that users have at least 1,000 subscribers to get online

Instagram users now need a public account with a minimum of 1,000 subscribers to be put online on the platform, the social network in Techcrunch confirmed. So far, Instagram has allowed anyone to go online, regardless of their number of followers or if its account is public or private.
This decision will be a blow for small creators on the platform which fall under the requirements of 1,000 subscribers, as well as regular users who simply liked to live with their friends for fun.
Users who have no public accounts and who have less than 1,000 subscribers will see a new opinion when they try to go live, declaring that their account is no longer eligible in Live. The opinion continues: “We have changed the requirements to use this functionality. Only public accounts with 1,000 or more subscribers will be able to create live videos. ”
Users have turned to social media to express their dissatisfaction with change, some requesting that it be reversed.
The change brings the live functionality of Instagram more in accordance with that of Tiktok, because the abbreviated video application also requires users to have at least 1,000 subscribers to be put online. In comparison, YouTube requires that the channels have at least 50 subscribers to be put online.
Although the company did not provide a specific reason for change, it noted that this decision is designed to improve the overall live experience.
The change could limit lower quality flows by only allowing users with an established audience to put themselves online.
It could also be a way for Meta to save money. Since Livestreams accommodation is expensive, Meta may have decided that she did not want to support shows with only a handful of viewers.
