In the light of the recent tragedy in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the Indian team in England observed a minute of silence to pay tribute to the lives lost in the plane crash on Thursday, June 12. The BCCI published photos of the players and members of the support staff paying tribute to the victims of the accident. The players and the staff also put on black brassards in solidarity with the families of the victims.“Players and support members involved in the intra-carré game in Beckenham wear black armbands,” said the BCCI in an article on X. “A minute of silence was also observed to pay tribute to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane, as a mark of respect for lost lives and solidarity with affected families”, read the position.India’s head coach Guatam Gambhir did not play any role in the intra-squad test in preparation for the five-game test series against England after the 43-year-old mother suffered a heart attack on June 11. Gambhir left the team on June 12, to be with his mother during this difficult period.The tragedy struck Air India Flight Ai 171 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick in London, when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff, claiming life if 241 out of 242 passengers were on board. Several important names in cricket have expressed their condolences and prayers to the families of those who were affected by the incident.

Before the WTC final between South Africa and Australia in Lord’s, the parties observed a minute of silence and wore black armbands to commemorate lost life in the tragic incident.
In preparation for the five test series against England, which also marks the start of a new era in Indian cricket and a new era under skipper Shubman Gill, the Indian team will play a four-day intra-carré test in Beckenham, Kent. The warm -up match will be the only match that the senior team will play before the England series.
