Rishabh Pant continued to consolidate his reputation as the most intrepid counter window drummer in India, marking twin centuries in the Headingley test and by corresponding to several records along the way. After marking a flow of 134 in the first round, Pant added 118 others in the second, becoming the first Indian to score centuries in the two sleeves of a test in England. He now joins the Indian club of centuries which includes Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar (three times), Rahul Dravid (twice), Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma. The coherence of pant in England quickly suits him a special place among the great strikers of India. His four hundred tests in England put it alongside Sachin Tentulkar and Dilip Vengsarkar, which are both three centuries of testing in the country. Only Rahul Dravid has more for India, with six tonnes of testing in England. The hundreds of Pant twins also made him the second goalkeeper designated to achieve this feat in the history of the test after Andy Flower of Zimbabwe. His total of 252 -point matches is the highest by an Indian window goalkeeper in a test, breaking the Budhi Kunderan record of 230 against England in Chennai in 1964. It is also the fourth highest match game by any ticket office in the test cricket, with only a flower in front of him.

Pant’s Power-Hitting was in the midst of Headingley when he hit nine six in second rounds, equaling the record for the most six in a test in England alongside Andrew Flintoff and Ben Stokes.Quiz: Who is this IPL player? Pant has also joined an elite list of strikers visiting with five fifty more consecutive scores in England, placing it in the same support as Don Bradman, Hansie Cronje, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kumar Sangakkara and Daryl Mitchell. Only Steven Smith has more, with seven. The Headingley test was also historic for India because the team produced five centuries in the same match for the first time. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Pant marked centuries in the first round while Kl Rahul and Pant added two others in the second. After mentioning his second century, Pant rejected the playful suggestion of Sunil Gavaskar to celebrate with a perilous jump, saving him for another day and rather launching a quick counterattack on Joe Root before falling for 118. The record frenzy of Pant in England highlights its growing stature as one of India’s most impactful strikers in tests abroad.
