In response to this, Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) president Ashoke Pandit has filed a formal complaint against certain paparazzi and digital media accounts for violating the actor’s privacy.

In his letter to Senior Police Inspector Sunil Jadhav, Pandit wrote, “I, Ashoke Pandit, Honorary President of the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), wish to lodge a formal complaint against certain unverified and scrupulous paparazzi and online media handlers who have crossed all bounds of decency and ethics in the recent coverage related to the illness of Padma Bhushan, Shri Dharmendra Ji, one of the legends most respected in Indian cinema.

The complaint pointed out that a few media officials allegedly entered Dharmendra’s residence premises without his consent and recorded images of his family members. These clips were distributed online, allegedly for the purposes of “sensationalism and profit.” He added that this act constituted a violation of privacy and dignity, stressing that such acts fall under the offenses of trespass, invasion of privacy and defamation.

Terming the behavior as “inhumane, unethical and a gross violation of the right to privacy guaranteed under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution”, the IFTDA urged the police to take strict action and set a precedent to deter similar incidents.

Dharmendra was reportedly on life support earlier this week, sparking increased media scrutiny. However, his family later clarified that although the actor was under medical supervision, he was responding positively to the treatment. He was released from the hospital on November 12 and is currently being treated at home.

After returning, Sunny Deol expressed her frustration with the photographers stationed outside her residence. In an emotional interaction, he said, “Aap logon ko sharam aani chahiye. Aapke ghar mein maa-baap hain, bacche hain,” urging the media to respect boundaries during a sensitive time.

Several members of the film community have also expressed concern over this growing intrusion, calling for restraint and responsible reporting.
