“I needed a quick guy”

The MSR star, Felix Rosenqvist, replaced the former winner of the Indy 500, Simon Pagenaud to Meyer Shank Racing for the 2024 season. The Swedish driver had big shoes to fill, because the signature of the Meyer rod races was questioned by many. However, MSR’s co -owner, Mike Shank, was released before the Indycar race in Barber Motorsports Park to justify the signature of Rosenqvist.
Rosenqvist, who ran for Arrow McLaren in 2023, was released by the Papaya team at the end of the season because he was the lowest McLaren driver. Arrow n ° 6 McLaren saw a number of drivers the following season, with Callum Ilott, Nolan Siegel and Theo Perchaire filling.
However, none of them was able to obtain a top five result, unlike Rosenqvist in 2024, which finished inside the first five four times, including two podiums. Mike Shank sat with Fox’s broadcast team, including Will Buxton, during the heating of Barber Motorsport Park.
Shank was questioned about the electric start of his team for the 2025 season and if the MSR co -owner is satisfied with performance. He took the opportunity to greet Felix Rosenqvist, justify his signature and silence those who interviewed the Swedish driver.
“Let’s talk about Felix first. We brought Felix so because I felt in 2023, I just needed someone very quickly. There was a question about his race capacity, why he was let go of McLaren, but what I needed, I needed a quick guy. He’s that,” said Mike Shank. (3h00)
“And by the way, in 2024. We qualified. If you count the oval between two cars, we qualified in the first six to 15 times from zero in 2023, so it’s a big match, the speed. Sundays were a bit difficult, although they improved the end of 24, so this year was put on the races,” he added.
Marcus Armstrong managed to participate in the top 12 qualification at the Alabama Indy Grand Prix and will start the race in P11. Felix Rosenqvist has just missed the second qualification session and will start the race in P14.
“It will come to us”: Felix Rosenqvist on the luck of Meyer Shank Racing in a victory in 2025
The Grand Prix of the Alabama Indy 2025 will be the 100th start from Felix Rosenqvist in Indycar. The Swedish pilot sat with motorsport for an interview before the race in Barber and discussed how the team improved in the past year.
Speaking of the possibility of getting on the podiums and winning this year, he said:
“I think the long Beach podium was very close, to be honest. We had a fuel reading error at the end, which certainly did not help. We were third for most of the race. I think that our approach is that if you continue to knock on the door, to qualify us well, to have a good rate of racing, it will come to us.
Felix Rosenqvist began the first race in St. Pete in the second row and finished in P7. The 33 -year -old man finished the following two races at the thermal club and Long Beach in P5 and P4, just outside the podium positions.
