Hurglanes eliminate capitals, advance for the final of the Eastern Conference

The goal of Andrei Svechnikov with 1:59 remaining raised the Hurricanes of Carolina visiting a 3-1 victory online on Washington’s capital in match 5 of the second row series of team teams in the Stanley Cup qualifiers.
Svechnikov’s eighth counting of the playoffs was assisted by Sean Walker and Seth Jarvis, who added an empty goal in the last minute. Jordan Staal scored his first goal of the playoffs, while Frederik Anderson stopped 18 shots for the Hurricanes.
Anthony Beauvillier turned on the lamp for the first time since the opening of the capital qualifiers on April 21. Goalkeeper Logan Thompson made 18 stops.
The Hurricanes qualified for their second final of the Eastern Conference in three seasons by converting two acute angle shots. Svechnikov scored the winner of the match near the goal line along the Dassers on a Walker game.
Staal put Carolina halfway from the first period. His shot from the bottom of the game point beaten Thompson on the other side with 10:22 on the left.
Beauvillier, promoted to the first line of capital for match 6, gave Washington his initial first period of the series four minutes later to equalize the match. He took advantage of a bad rebound on the pass of Jaccob Slavin behind the goal that carved in front of the net with 6:19 to play.
The two teams had opportunities leading to the Svechnikov match winner. A Thompson outside the position made a diving stop on the shot at close range of Logan Stankhoven in the last minute of the first period, the stick of the goalkeeper deviating the washer of an open net.
Matt Roy seemed to give Washington to advance it less than three minutes after the second period, but Carolina won a proofreading challenge showing that Connor McMichael was barely offside a few moments earlier. Then, just before the buzzer, Jarvis beat Thompson, but the washer rebounded on the transverse bar.
Carolina has moved to her sixth final of the conference since her Hartford move, in Connecticut, in 1997. They will face either the title champion of the Stanley Florida Panthers Cup or the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Panthers have an advance in the 3-2 series before Friday’s match in Sunrise, Florida.
