Mark Hamill recently shared a personal memory of Carrie Fisher who reminded her how much Star Wars shaped his career. Speaking Fresh airHamill recalled how Fisher formerly called her for having minimized her connection with the legendary franchise in a Broadway playbill.
“”[Carrie Fisher] Hamll said Hamill.
“And in the playbill, in my biography, I listed all my theater credits and at the end, he said:” He is also known for a series of popular space films. “And she said,” What is the problem? Star Wars? And I said: “Well, I want to show that I have a CV which includes extensive theatrical credits.” And she said, “Hey, overcome yourself. You are Luke Skywalker. I am Princess Leia. Kiss her. “”
This moment remained with Hamill, who admitted that it had helped to move his point of view.
“And in a way I saw what she meant, you know, because you say to yourself:” What territory should I occupy that no one else does? ” So he was someone who told me in perspective, “he added.
Hamill, Fisher and Harrison Ford have become icons of pop culture such as lead trio in the original Star Wars trilogy. Since the end of the series in 1983, the franchise has become one of the most influential and successful in cinematographic history.
Although Hamill says that he cherishes his time in the galaxy far, far, he clearly indicated that he did not intend to come back as Luke Skywalker.
“I am so grateful to George [Lucas] for letting me be part of this day, the humble days when George called Star Wars “The most expensive low -budget film ever made,” said Hamill.
“We did not expect it to become a permanent franchise and part of pop culture like that. But my agreement is that I had my time. I appreciate it, but I think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.”
