Angela Bassett her daughter was surprised,Bronwyn Vancewas interested in the 2025 Le Bal des Debutantes.
During an interview with Good morning! Reviewposted on Saturday, November 29, Bassett, 67, admitted Bronwyn’s involvement “seemed a little unexpected at first.”
“I don’t think it’s normal to be scrutinized and invited onto the world stage at such an age,” Bassett continued, referring to her 19-year-old daughter.
According to Bassett, there was “no apprehension of any kind” and she “was swept away” by Bronwyn’s involvement.
“Bronwyn has a kind spirit,” Bassett added. “She is comfortable and seeks to make others feel comfortable in whatever situation she finds herself in.”
Bassett shares Bronwyn and her twin brother, Slater Vancewith my husband Courtney B. Vance.
Ahead of the event, which took place at the Shangri-La Paris Hotel on Saturday, Bronwyn opened up about how she got into the world of beginners.
“I love fashion and feeling like a princess, and this seemed like something I would love,” Bronwyn said. Good morning! “I also recognized some of the girls who had done it years before and knew if they did it it was a great event.”
Bassett and her husband Courtney, 65, both attended the ball to support their daughter. Courtney even shared a special dance with Bronwyn. Slater was also involved in Saturday’s event, acting as his sister’s rider or escort.
“I thought it would be less pressure to have my brother and my natural best friend,” Bronwyn said of her sibling, noting that their photos “last a lifetime.”
The twins have traveled some distance from each other — and their parents — since they decided to attend separate colleges on the East Coast. While Bronwyn is currently studying at Harvard University in Massachusetts, Slater has decided to attend Yale University in Connecticut.
“The distance doesn’t make us any less close,” Bronwyn explained, speculating that the separation is “good for us and for our careers going forward.”

Bassett said Good morning! that the relationship with her children is a “blessing,” especially now that they are “in a phase of self-discovery” while adjusting to the early stages of adulthood.
When it came to making her debut on Saturday, Bronwyn remembers meeting the other debutantes right before the event.
“We explained that some girls didn’t know their dates yet and that we were so hungry during photo shoots and interviews all day today,” she said. “I can’t wait to meet all the riders, but from what I’ve heard, they’re all very handsome and funny!”
Other famous children have appeared in Le Bal des Debutantes over the years. Last year’s event included Gwyneth Paltrow And Chris Martinthe daughter of, Apple Martin.
Marguerite Qualley, Lori Harvey, Lily Collins, Scout And Tallulah Willismore Reese Witherspoon And Ryan Philippethe daughter of, Ava Philippe, have also been ball debutants in recent years.
Although Bronwyn couldn’t wait to “see all the photos” after Saturday’s event, there was one thing that excited her even more.
“I watch what I eat and work out every day just for that,” she said. “I have to get myself a fatty and unhealthy meal right after the ball!”
