Gordon’s bright start rewarded as Three Lions head to 2026 World Cup

Anthony Gordon fired England into the 2026 World Cup after scoring 25 minutes into the Three Lions’ clash with Latvia.
Thomas Tuchel’s men had struggled to break down their Eastern European defensive opponents, but the Newcastle winger had his own plan to break the deadlock.
Having been England’s most successful player, the man who replaced Marcus Rashford in the 3-0 win over Wales beat the offside trap on the left side.
He cut inside, before curling a right-footed shot into the far corner, giving the Latvian goalkeeper no chance to save his shot.
England need just one win to secure their place in the United States, Canada and Mexico next summer, and they appear on course to achieve victory.
But there is still plenty of time left in the match, with Latvia now on the offensive in search of an equalizer.
