Glass packaging company Vetropack appoints new CEO

Swiss glass packaging supplier Vetropack Group has appointed Lukas Burkhardt as CEO effective January 1, 2026.
He succeeds Johann Reiter, who retired after leading the company since 2018.
Burkhardt has been a member of the Gerresheimer management team, responsible for the primary packaging glass division, since 2018.
He previously worked at Audi in Germany and Rieter Automotive Group (now Autoneum), with a particular focus on operations in Asia.
In 2015, Burkhardt became a member of the Franke Group Board of Directors as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing production at more than 30 locations as well as logistics, purchasing and engineering.
Burkhardt said: “I am very excited to take on my new role and lead Vetropack into the future.
“For me, Vetropack is a traditional company with enormous potential: as a family business, we are firmly established in the market and have enormous expertise in developing one of the most sustainable packaging solutions available. We are also well positioned internationally and have a team of experts at all our locations. If we play these strengths correctly, we can succeed even in a currently very difficult market environment.”
Claude Cornaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vetropack, said: “In Lukas Burkhardt, we have found our first choice candidate for the position of CEO. He knows our industry and understands how it works. At the same time, he brings new ideas and concepts from his previous positions to our company.”
During Reiter’s tenure as CEO, Vetropack introduced lightweight thermally toughened glass bottles and developed the 2030+ strategy.
Cornaz adds: “Johann Reiter has successfully led the Vetropack Group since 2018. In particular, he led the internationalization and strategic realignment of the group. Johann Reiter initiated important developments and thus had a lasting impact on Vetropack.”
