Tottenham’s head coach Thomas Frank thinks that his captain Cristian Romero is one of the best defenders in the world.
The winner of the Argentinian World Cup signed a new contract after the arrival of the Dane, canceling the rumors of a potential departure after the dismissing of Angel Postoccolou.
And he has since been appointed Captain since the absence of a Heung-Min son, also leading the Spurs to a positive campaign in 2025-26 so far, with four victories in five games.
As a result, he won Frank’s praise, who was seen to kiss the defender after the 1-0 victory against Villarreal in the Champions League earlier on Tuesday.
Speaking before Brighton’s match, Frank said: “I note it super high. I think it is one of the best central backs in the world and it helps when you have won a World Cup and the Europa League.
“The best performance week, week. I really see a more mature player and a person, not that he was not before. He is aggressive when he needs to be, cool and composed when he has to be.”
Frank takes it slowly
Tottenham fans were naturally delighted at the start of Frank, although some of the victories were not glamorous, there is a new defensive stability which was not present under the former Angel Postcoglou boss.
And this is something that Frank is very aware, with the former Brentford coach admits that he is taking a match at a time and will not pay any attention to the table before next year.
He added: “I looked several times. I try to focus on us and our performance. It is so easy to get pulled into something you can’t control.
“Fans can dream and hope. I also dream and I hope that I am a little closer to things, so I have to stay at the head.”
