More information revealed about incident surrounding Durante Schofield in Buckhead
According to WSB-TV, the outlet learned on Friday, October 31, that prior to the fatal shooting on October 30, Durante Schofield crashed his vehicle into the side of a building. Afterward, Scholfield called his girlfriend, who reportedly works for APD, to ask for help. His girlfriend, who has not been publicly identified, reportedly gave an anonymous tip about the accident. Then she allegedly drove Schofield to their apartment in Pharr.
Once there, according to the girlfriend, Schofield became “belligerent and damaged her apartment” after she asked him to hand over his keys and leave.

At that point, the girlfriend allegedly called the police, who arrived and questioned her. She also called Schofield’s father, who arrived at the same time as the police and left the apartment with his son. According to the outlet, this was after Schofield and Tolliver briefly argued.
Once they arrived at the parking lot, they allegedly started arguing again. Law & Crime reports that Tolliver also became angry after his son slammed his car door. According to WSB-TV, Tolliver also “believed his son was reaching for his waistband as if he had a gun.” As a result, Tolliver shot him 12 times.
“I never imagined that a hundred years from now I wouldn’t have thought that was the phone call I was getting,” Dee Clyburn, Durante Schofield’s sister, told the outlet. “He’s my big brother. I’ll never be able to call him again.”
According to Law & Crime, Schofield was apparently unarmed when the shooting occurred. Additionally, his family has reportedly launched a GoFundMe campaign to help “honor his memory and give him the beautiful celebration of life he deserves.” Meanwhile, his girlfriend has reportedly been placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

As The Shade Room previously reported, Durante Tolliver was later charged with “murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.” On Friday, October 31, a judge reportedly denied his bail, according to WBS-TV.
