Farke wants some additions as they close in on Chelsea flop Buonanotte

Daniel Farke is eager to strengthen his squad in January but did not want to comment specifically on reports that Leeds are close to completing a deal for Facundo Buonanotte.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is currently on loan at Chelsea from Brighton but, having failed to make a big impact at Stamford Bridge, Buonanotte is now expected to end his season-long contract with the Blues, returning to Brighton before being sent to Leeds.
Buanonotte almost joined the West Yorkshire club on deadline day last September before opting to go to Chelsea instead.
Asked about the Argentine ahead of Saturday’s home game against Fulham, Farke said: “I never talk about speculation and rumours. I can tell you generally about our thoughts and what we want to do, but also about the possibility of strengthening our squad in January. In terms of ins and outs, I can’t confirm anything apart from what we have from yesterday, the Harry Gray loan, but apart from that, nothing to say today.”
We’re on the right track, says Leeds boss Farke
Leeds are on a good run after losing just one of their last nine games in all competitions, but Farke admitted he would like to strengthen his squad with an attacking arrival, adding: “We spoke very openly in the summer about what we want to do. We wanted to do more in attack, a creative number 10/winger position, and then on the last day we missed our game.
“Nevertheless, we have developed very well as a group and we are on the right track. We have progressed to the next round of the FA Cup, at Premier League level we are on the right track. We have a good capable group who we have confidence in. We could do something if we think that okay, this player would improve our team, let’s say a character who fits into this group. We won’t risk anything that could endanger our spirit.
“We had a big turnaround this summer, we did very well in signing six players and sending out six. We definitely won’t expand the squad because I think we have good players and we won’t expand it to 30 outfield players. There’s always room for one, maybe two, three positions.”
Farke fan of Wilson
Leeds will come up against another former target this weekend, Harry Wilson of the Cottagers. Leeds’ defeat was Fulham’s gain, with the Wales international scoring seven times and adding four assists in 20 Premier League appearances this season.
Farke said: “Harry Wilson is a very good player and has played a fantastic season. Impressive with goals. I have seen him for many years, from my time at Norwich, I tried to sign him there, one season on loan. [but it] wasn’t supposed to be.
Leeds, 16th in the table but eight points clear of third-from-bottom West Ham, could be at full strength on Saturday with Sebastian Bornauw, Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle all returning to training.
