Man United could complete their squad in January, but it seems very likely that one or two players will leave Old Trafford. Concretely, it is more and more taken for granted that the departure of Joshua Zirkzee, even though we had hardly counted on him since the start of the season.
Zirkzee is yet to start a match in any competition, with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha/Mason Mount preferred to him as strikers. For this reason, he has made it clear that he wants to leave and Man United are ready to give the green light.
Roma ready to move in January for Man United’s Joshua Zirkzee
According to TBR Football, Man United will sanction Zirkzee’s exit in January, and Roma are currently doing their best to sign him. They are ready to cut Evan Ferguson’s loan deal short, which would open the door for the Dutch striker to return to Italy.
“We are told that Roma are currently exploring mechanisms to return the Irishman to Brighton, which would allow them to bring in a new leader, and Zirkzee is their preferred choice. Zirkzee is on the verge of a move and interest in him is very strong, he can stay in England, has options to return to Italy as we have revealed, but there are also teams in Spain, France and Germany – he will really have his choice.
“United are going to sanction him, they really like his attitude and his commitment, but given the summer arrivals of Cunha, Sesko and Mbeumo, they all realize he is at the bottom of the pecking order. The Red Devils want him to go to the World Cup next summer, and the only chance is that he plays next year.”
It makes perfect sense for Zirkzee to leave Man United, and it will be interesting to see if a permanent deal is sought – either in January or next summer.
