Youngster Diego Leon may “won’t have to wait much longer” for his senior debut at Manchester United.
Although he only turned 18 in April 2025, Leon had already played over 30 senior football matches with Cerro Porteno in his native Paraguay. Since joining the Red Devils in the summer, Leon has played exclusively for Man United’s Under-21s, where he has attracted attention with his performances.
Leon is obviously an exciting talent and Man United will no doubt be looking to avoid a repeat of what happened with Alvaro Carreras. The teenager was part of several matchday squads for Ruben Amorim’s side, who took 10 points from 12 available from their previous four matches.
Reports from Leon’s home continent of South America, according to The Peoples Person, suggest the winger could soon make his senior debut at Old Trafford.

“At United, he (Diego Leon) is getting more and more involved in the first team. He is definitely in United’s plans in the short and medium term.”
Having signed in January, Patrick Dorgu is yet to make a big impression at Man United. Formerly of Lecce, the left-back has not started a match for the Red Devils since a 3-1 defeat against Brentford at the end of September.
Diogo Dalot starts as left-back in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system since Dorgu’s abandonment. Naturally suited to the right side, Dalot has also struggled in that position and given the injury problems Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have faced in recent years, Leon may well soon find himself involved in a first-team game.
Apparently, Léon “will get his chance sooner rather than later.” Top-level football in Paraguay is, of course, a different level to that of the English Premier League, but Leon has already played senior football regularly, a rarity for a player of such a young age.
