Eric Dane to star in ‘Brilliant Minds’

Eric Dane Set to Appear as Guest Star in NBC Medical Series Brilliant mindstaking on a role that affects us closely.

THE Euphoria And Grey’s Anatomy The actor will appear in Season 2, Episode 9 as Matthew, a heroic firefighter who struggles to tell his family about his ALS diagnosis.

The role has a personal connection to Dane, who revealed earlier this year that he himself had been diagnosed with ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease that gradually weakens muscles and affects physical function.

Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS causes patients to gradually lose the ability to speak, walk, and eventually breathe without assistance.

Dane recently started using a wheelchair and was unable to attend the Grey’s Anatomy reunion at this year’s Emmys after a fall left him hospitalized.

Brilliant Minds follows neurologist Oliver Wolf, played by Zachary Quinto, who leads a team of doctors at Bronx General Hospital as they explore the mysteries of the human brain.

The series first premiered in 2024 and returned for its second season on September 22.

Its cast includes Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, Brian Altemus and Al Calderon.

Inspired by the work of author and physician Oliver Sacks, the series is created and written by Michael Grassi, who also serves as executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra.

The series is produced by Berlanti Productions, Fabel Entertainment, The Imaginarium, Grassi Productions and Tavala, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.

Dane remains best known for his long-running role as Dr. Mark Sloan in Grey’s Anatomywhere he appeared in 139 episodes, as well as his portrayal of Cal Jacobs in the HBO series Euphoria.

His career also includes roles in Countdown, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Burlesque, Valentine’s DayAnd Marley and me.
