Epic will allow Fortnite creators to sell items in the game in the last attempt to compete with Roblox

Creators who build experiences Fortnite get a new way to earn income. Epic says that the developers will soon have the opportunity to manufacture and sell items at stake in FortniteAnd win a reduction in V-Bucks users to buy them. Previously, developers only earned money via Fortnite depending on the time that users have spent on their “islands”, the name at stake for third -party experiences that creators can offer through Fortnite.
Developers will be able to create their consumable and sustainable elements in play using tools that will soon be published in a Unreal publisher for Fortnite and a new “API based on worms”, according to Epic. The company also plans to be generous with the income divided its offer, at least at the start. The developers “will normally gain 50% of the V-Bucks value of sales in their islands”, but from December 2025 at the end of 2026, they will be able to keep 100%.
Epic claims that its 50% drop – especially more than the 30% popularized by the Apple App Store – is to help “contribute to servers’ accommodation costs, safety and moderation, R&D and other operating expenses” Fortnite. It is also a kind of makeup, because Epic says that it “invests and operated the company at a loss”.
The quantity of 100% or 50% of the “V-Bucks value” is actually equivalent in real money, however, is not as simple as converting Fortnite digital currency into dollars. Epic offers the following explanation on how it calculates the value in V-Bucks:
To determine the value of V-Bucks in US dollars in a given month, we take all the expenses of real customers to buy V-Bucks (converted into US dollars), subtracting the platform and store costs (ranging from 12% on the 30% epic game store on current consoles) and dividing it by the total V-Bucks spent by players. Fortnite platform and average store costs are currently 26% (with specific costs ranging from 12% on the Epic Games store to 30% on console platforms). Thus, 50% of the V-Bucks value results in approximately 37% of retail expenses, and 100% of the V-Bucks value results in around 74%.
In addition to the new ability to create articles at stake, Epic says that Fortnite developers will be able to pay to be presented in a new “sponsored line” inside FortniteDry to discover. And to better initiate new players and return, developers also have access to new tools to create community forums and share updates on their islands.
All these changes are at the service of the additional extension FortniteThe ability to act as a platform for games and social experiences, rather than a royal battle game (with races, a game of rhythm and Lego spin-offs). Epic clearly wants Fortnite Be Roblox and harvest the advantages of having an active community of adult users and children creating experiences for your platform. Cultivate that the public led to all kinds of children’s safety problems for Roblox, But Epic clearly considers the risks to be worth it.
