Investigation Discovery announced that The strange case of… returns with eight new episodes in early 2026.
The new episodes promise to tackle bizarre cases filled with twists and shocking revelations, told through first-hand accounts from those who know the stories best. Guided by a legal analyst and expert Beth Karasthe new season will take an even more in-depth look at shocking crimes full of deception and obsession.
“When we launched The strange case of Natalia Gracewe could never have imagined how this story would take the world by storm, making headlines everywhere and even inspiring scripted versions on other platforms. “Knowing there were so many more ‘Curious Cases’ to tell, we expanded the franchise into an anthology that continued to captivate audiences and became our highest-rated series of 2025. Now, with Season 2, we’re diving into stories even stranger than fiction, each a high-stakes puzzle full of twists and turns and unforgettable characters.
Each episode promises to uncover deception, greed and manipulation while proving the truth behind each mysterious case.
What cases will be addressed in season 2 of “The Curious Case of…”?
Following the success of season 1, the new series of episodes will reveal even more mysterious true crime cases.
The first episode will be titled “The Strange Case of… Death by Detox?” and will reveal the crimes of Dr. Robert O. Young after creating a platform amid the success of his pH Miracle book series.
The synopsis explained that Young’s pH Miracle book series promoted “an alkaline diet, the mainstay of which is an avocado-based green smoothie, which is growing in popularity.” Young’s business quickly took off and he found success selling books and holistic supplements. As his list of wealthy and high-profile clients grew, his fans quickly realized that the health tips he shared were not the “miracle” cures he claimed them to be.
Other crimes that will be documented during the season include that of a Russian woman who attempted to impersonate a salon worker, an intense rivalry between two beauticians, a professor who hypnotized his students and faced deadly consequences, a woman who committed multiple crimes while pretending to have cancer, a town affected by multiple diagnoses of Tourette syndrome, and a woman who cared for the corpses of her late husband and sister.

When does “The Curious Case of…” Season 2 premiere?
Season 2 of The strange case of… will air Monday, January 12 at 10 p.m. ET on ID, with each episode airing each week in the same time slot. Those who miss the live episodes will be able to stream them later on HBO Max.
