Huge stick insect discovered in Australia

A researcher from an Australian university has discovered a new “oversized” species of sticks insect in a tropical forest distant from Queensland, Australia.
Professor Angus Emmott has identified the new species of acrophyla alta in the awnings of the region of the Mountain Wet Tropics in the northeast of the country.
Insects are about 40 cm long. This specimen weighs 44 g, which is “a little less than a golf ball,” said James Cook University in a press release.
