Dancing with the stars season 34 graced the world of Wicked with incredible performances – and a whole new look at what’s to come For good.
During the Tuesday, October 21 episode of the ABC dance competition series, director Jobs Men revealed a preview of the upcoming film, which starred The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) explaining how he became popular in Oz. Part 1 of WickedThe two-part film adaptation of was released in November 2024 and follows the first act of the iconic Broadway show which shares the story of Glinda and Elphaba before the events of The Wizard of Oz.
While the first film ended with Glinda and Elphaba breaking up before Elphaba fled Shiz University, the second part will pick up a few years later with Elphaba, now the Wicked Witch of the West, continuing her plans to help the animals of the land when Glinda rises to power as the Wizard’s spokesperson.
“The wonderful thing about the show is you understand why this woman becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, but you only have three hours to do it,” Erivo, 38, said. Weekly Entertainment in February about why Wicked was split into separate parts. “With us, you have two films.”
She noted that Glinda and Elphaba’s friendship has also “expanded” with the extra time, adding, “It’s a really important and special thing that you have on the show, but here you really get to go with them. We have something really special.”

“Wicked is the beloved story of two best friends who change each other’s lives for good,” Erivo said, while Grande added, “So rejoice! Let’s kick off this special celebration of Wicked with a speculator opening number created by our wonderful choreographer. Chris Scott.”
Chu also shared her excitement about being in the ballroom early in the evening.
“It’s my favorite movie and my favorite TV show combined, it’s going to be amazing,” Chu said at the top of the episode. “But everything you know about dance, the power of it, it’s not the technique at the end of the day. Once you get over that, you rehearsed really well, now it’s about telling the story. Fill us with all the feelings today.”
Dancing with the stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Villain: for good hits theaters on November 21.
