Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson surprised fans with a new striking look when he arrived at the Venice International Film Festival on Monday, September 1.
The 53 -year -old actor and former professional wrestler seemed to be thinner thinner than in his recent role in The breaking machinewhere he takes the difficult representation of the legendary fighter MMA Mark Kerr.
Directed and written by Benny Safdie, the sporting drama marks an important transformation for Johnson, who spoke of physical and emotional commitment behind.
“This transformation was something that I was really hungry to do,” he said, as indicated by The Hollywood Reporter.
“I was lucky to have the career that I had over the years and to make the films I made, but there was just a voice in me, a little voice said:” Well, and if I could do more, I want to do more and what does it look like? “”
The film tells the story of Kerr’s climb as mixed martial arts and UFC icon. Emily Blunt features alongside Johnson as Kerr Wife, Dawn.
The duo walked the red carpet together during several festival events, the first in the film winning a powerful 15 -minute standing ovation.
The video captured inside the theater showed Johnson surmounted with emotion, wiping tears while he was standing next to Blunt and Kerr. Safdie was also visibly moved, flowing on his knees under the applause.
Kerr himself expressed his gratitude on social networks, reflecting on what it meant to see his story told on the screen.
“I’m always incredulous that it’s real,” he wrote.

The breaking machine should arrive in theaters on October 3, bringing the public the powerful true story of Mark Kerr’s life inside and outside the ring.
