With the help of DraftKings, military veterans who are part of the VetsinTech program were honored at several NFL games during the league’s “Salute to Service” month.
The veterans attended last Sunday’s New York Giants game in a suite after taking the field during warmups and participating in the pregame flag ceremony. Similar cases occurred during recent Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots games.
It’s an added bonus for veterans who join the program after their service to find employment in the technology sector, said Ikram Mansori, chief operating officer of VetsinTech.

“DraftKings has supported us for years now. They care. It’s always something to look forward to, and our community is always wondering, ‘When is the next game? How can I be a part of it?'” Mansori said in a recent interview. “For us to provide an experience like this, it just shows that we honor their existence. I get texts every morning telling me how cool the experience was, and for them to be honored, it’s unmatched.”
The company was founded in 2008 and has enjoyed many successes. With the help of DraftKings, the program was able to train 1,200 veterans, spouses and survivors in technical skills. Since 2018, DraftKings has donated more than $3 million to VetsinTech to train veterans and their spouses in high-demand technology skills, including a $200,000 donation from their free games pool earlier this month, during which they donated $5 for each entry.
One success story in particular, Mansori recalls, was that of a veterinarian who turned his life around after joining the program shortly after living in his car. Another graduate of the program had lost his son in combat, but after joining VetsinTech, he was able to come out of his “dark” zone and find a sense of joy after experiencing the unimaginable.

The program has been hugely successful, but Mansori believes it is only “scratching the surface.”
“We have 200,000 veterans or service members leaving the military every year. 80% of these veterans don’t necessarily have a solid plan to transition into employment… That’s where we come in. a six-figure income.
“I always look at how we approach supporting our veterans, our spouses and our survivors, because there’s a reactive and proactive bundle, just having access to the basics, like mental health, hospital, medical care, all those things, a roof over your head. You can’t really focus on the proactive things unless those things are done. But where we are as VetsinTech in partnership with DraftKings is about the proactive side. We want you to have that and more and have that financial stability and that better quality of life and the possibilities of working remotely or not. It’s endless.

“But we want to do more. The goal remains the same: How can we serve these 200,000 service members who leave the military each year?”
