‘Don’t blame staff’: Vir Das, Sonu Sood and Aly Goni appeal for calm as IndiGo turmoil intensifies

As massive disruptions to IndiGo flights continue to spark chaos across the country, new videos circulating on social media reveal scenes of frustrated passengers shouting at ground staff at airports overwhelmed by delays and cancellations. As emotions run high and frontline workers face public anger, several celebrities have weighed in, urging travelers to show empathy toward airline employees.
Over the past two days, passengers have posted clips from airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and other metros, capturing heated exchanges with IndiGo staff. Many travelers accused the airline of failing to communicate clearly, while others complained of being stranded for hours, missing weddings, business meetings and family events.
Vir Das calls out IndiGo management
Comedian and actor Vir Das took to X (formerly Twitter) to demand accountability – but not from junior staff in front of the mob. In a strongly worded message, he said the airline’s senior management should personally ensure travel to the airport during the crisis.
“The entire senior management of IndiGo should be made to take turns at the airport and stand there…Instead of the terrified junior employees, without power, cabin crew and ground staff, who were left to face the screams and screams,” he wrote.
Das’ message quickly gained traction, with thousands supporting his call for policymakers to speak directly to passengers rather than letting young ground staff handle the chaos.
Sonu Sood appeals for compassion
Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood also shared a video message on X, appealing to passengers to stay calm and treat airport staff with kindness.
Calling the cancellations “frustrating and
“It’s painful,” Sood recounted how his own family members were stranded for almost five hours. But what moved him most, he said, was witnessing the distress of ground staff.
“They are helpless… They don’t know the upcoming schedules. They just pass on the messages they receive from above,” he said.
Her message struck a chord online, particularly with the reminder that many staff members are also “bearing the brunt of the cancellations.”
Aly Goni joins in supporting vocals
TV actor Aly Goni also posted a video asking passengers not to blame frontline staff, stressing that the disruptions were beyond their control.
The flight disruptions – among the worst in recent months – have sparked nationwide anger, with travelers demanding clearer communication and faster responses. As ground workers struggle to deal with growing queues and agitated passengers, calls for intervention from IndiGo’s top executives are growing louder.
For now, celebrities and everyday travelers share a similar sentiment: While the crisis is undeniably upsetting, directing anger at helpless staff only compounds the burden on those already working under immense pressure.
