Your default applications are applications that your iPhone automatically uses in certain situations. So, if you press a phone number on a website, for example, your iPhone will open your phone application and make a call to this number. But if you like to use a certain browser application, such as Chrome or Firefox, you can create this default application for your default application.

When Apple came out iOS 18.2 In December, this update facilitated the change in your iphone default applications. • E-mail: Choose another application instead of the mail application to be used when opening the links to send an email.
• Keyboard: Choose an application to be used for the capabilities of the text input on a system scale.
• Messaging: Choose another application instead of the messages to use when opening links to send instant messages.
• Navigation*: Choose another application instead of the Apple Maps application to use when opening the links for a location.
• Password and codes: Choose another application instead of the password application to use for the automatic password in Safari and other applications.
• Translation: Choose another application instead of the Translate Application to be used when translation of the selected text.

* Only available in certain countries and regions.

Press one of these categories and you can change this default application. If you do not have a third -party application downloaded on your iPhone for a certain category, this category will show you the apple application or nothing.

Can I not change my default applications before?

In some cases, yes. When Apple published iOS 14 in 2020, the update allows you to modify the default applications and the default browser applications of your iPhone. You can also modify a few other categories before iOS 18.2, such as the keyboard, but the options have been dispersed in the settings.

With iOS 18.2, your iPhone brings together these categories in one place, and the update adds some other categories, such as messaging and calls.
