Didn’t receive a Sora 2 invite code? You don’t need it to use the viral app

OpenAI’s Sora 2 launched less than two months ago and has already taken over our social media feeds. The new Sora AI video generation app offers almost unlimited possibilities (although you have to pay to generate more videos after you reach your daily cap). At first, early adopters received an invitation code to test the latest features, but all that has changed now.
OpenAI now grants users code-free access in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. Gone are the days when you had to jump through hoops to access and join the viral trend. But OpenAI says availability is for a “limited time only.”
If you’re outside of these regions, you’ll still need to wait for wider access or find an invite code. Here’s how it works.

How to download and log in to Sora without code
- Download the Sora app from the Apple App Store.
- Log in using your ChatGPT account (the same login you use for ChatGPT or ChatGPT Plus).
- That’s it. No invite code is required if you are in the United States, Canada, Japan, or South Korea.
Once connected, you can instantly start watching, sharing, and creating AI-generated videos in the Sora feed.
If you don’t live in these countries, you will need to try one of the following methods to connect.
OpenAI’s Sora is available as an iOS app and through the Sora.com website.
How to get an invite code for OpenAI’s Sora app
To obtain an invitation code, follow these steps:
- Download the Sora app from the Apple App Store. Make sure you choose the one with the navy blue and white cloud icon.
- Log in with your ChatGPT account or tap Use another account.
- Faucet Notify me when access opens.
- In the pop-up, allow Sora to send you push notifications.
OpenAI said in a post that it is beginning initial deployment in the United States and Canada and intends to expand to other countries quickly. The company prioritizes its paid Pro users to access Sora, but you don’t need to be a paid user to access Sora. Android users won’t be able to scroll through the app, but they will be able to use an invite code to generate AI video clips with Sora 2 through the web browser.
Once you receive an invitation code, you can finish setting up your Sora account. You can then use Sora through the mobile app or website, and you’ll have access to four new invite codes to share with your friends.
How to get a Sora 2 invite code via Discord
If you don’t want to wait to browse the OpenAI waitlist, you can also try your luck via Discord. Here’s how.
- Join the official OpenAI server. If you don’t have Discord, here is how to create an account.
- Link your ChatGPT account to your Discord profile. OpenAI will explain how to do this.
- Be patient. It took me about 15 hours before OpenAI was able to link my accounts and grant me access to its server.
- Go to #sora-2-codes once you are on the server.
- Post a message to see if anyone has an invite code available that you can use.
Be aware of OpenAI server rules and do not sell Sora 2 invite codes.
