Diddy has officially been transferred to prison, he will remain there for the next few years

Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially begun serving his prison sentence at his highly regarded Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Fort Dix, New Jersey, sources confirmed Thursday.

For the past year, the embattled hip hop mogul has been staying at Brooklyn’s notorious Metropolitan Detention Center following his arrest for a number of federal crimes.

It remains to be seen how long Diddy will remain in prison, as his lawyers have announced their intention to appeal the 50-month sentence handed down by Judge Arun Subramanian.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is now reportedly calling FCI Fort Dix home after being transferred there early Thursday morning to begin his prison sentence, according to TMZ.

The Bad Boy Records founder was previously detained at MDC in Brooklyn after being arrested in September 2024 on federal felony charges related to sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.

A jury acquitted him of the most serious charges, but found him guilty of two counts related to prostitution. Judge Arun Subramanian gave him just over 4 years in prison and a $500,000 fine, although the time he has already spent behind bars counts toward his sentence.

His attorneys had requested that he be transferred to the new facility so he could “address substance abuse issues” and “maximize family visits and rehabilitation efforts.”

Reports now indicate he checked himself into Fort Dix, with the Bureau of Prisons ultimately granting his request.

During his time at MDC, Diddy’s lawyers complained bitterly about the appalling living conditions there, saying he had no access to clean water and could go days without exposure to fresh air.

His life was also seriously threatened, as his lawyers revealed during his sentencing that someone had tried to beat him in prison.

The “Bad Boy For Life” rapper apparently had a brush with death as his best friend, Charlucci Finney, claimed he woke up with a knife in his neck and that the invader could have killed him.

“He woke up with a knife to his throat,” Finney revealed. “I don’t know if he pushed him away or if the guards came, I just know it happened.”

However, Finney added that the incident was likely a warning rather than an actual attempted murder.

“If this guy had wanted to hurt him, Sean would have been hurt. It would have only taken him a second to slit his throat with a gun and kill him,” he said.

“It was probably a way of saying, ‘Next time you won’t be so lucky.’ It’s all intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem,” Finney added.

The 55-year-old is now expected to be released in May 2028, provided he gets good behavior credits.

His lawyers had previously informed a US court of their intention to appeal the decision, after filing a notice of appeal more than a week ago.

They submitted legal documents to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Wednesday, asking the court to expedite a review of his conviction, believing his 50-month sentence should be reduced.

“Mr. Combs expects to challenge both his conviction and sentence as part of his appeal. An expedited briefing and argument schedule is essential to ensure that Mr. Combs’ appeal of his sentence does not become moot while the appeal is pending,” the filing states, according to NBC News.

He continued: “Accordingly, to ensure that Mr. Combs could meaningfully benefit from any appellate decision overturning his sentence, we have proposed a timetable that would expedite this Court’s consideration of Mr. Combs’ appeal. »

Key figures in Diddy’s camp have previously said they pushed for President Donald Trump to pardon the Grammy winner.

However, the billionaire politician doesn’t seem interested in the idea, especially after hinting that he wouldn’t consider it due to Diddy’s past criticism of him after he became president.

A TMZ The report previously cited a “senior White House official” as saying Trump could commute Diddy’s prison sentence, but the government quickly criticized the report as a “zero truth” report.
