Dead and injured after Russia strikes residential and energy sites in Ukraine | Russia-Ukraine War

Ukraine is calling for more sanctions and an asset freeze against Russia as it fends off intensified attacks, with a harsh new winter of war looming.
At least 10 people have been killed and more parts of Ukraine plunged into darkness after another night of intense Russian attacks across the country, local authorities said, as diplomatic momentum to end a nearly four-year war fades.
The Ukrainian military announced Saturday morning that hundreds of Russian drones, as well as missiles launched from the air, ground and sea, had targeted critical infrastructure, a frequent target of the Kremlin as another harsh winter of war looms.

“More pressure is needed”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his call for new sanctions against Russia and the freezing of its assets in the European Union before winter, saying that “Russian strikes show that pressure must be greater.”

Russian air defenses shot down two guided aerial bombs and 178 unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Ukrainian forces. Eight more drones were reportedly shot down before noon on Saturday.
Violent house-to-house fighting also continues to rage in Pokrovsk, the city of Donetsk where tens of thousands of Russian troops have converged to demand control of greater territory and “liberate” buildings held for more than a year by Ukrainian soldiers, in intense close-quarters clashes.
Ukrainian General Oleksandr Syrskii said kyiv troops were stepping up attacks on Russian forces around the eastern Ukrainian town of Dobropillia to ease pressure on Pokrovsk.
