DC United Acquire M Caden Clark from CF Montreal

DC United acquired the Caden Clark midfielder from CF Montreal, clubs announced on Thursday.

In exchange, Montreal receives up to $ 800,000 in a cash exchange and retains a percentage of sales.

Clark, 22, joined DC as an initiative player U22 and is under contract until 2025 with options for 2026-27.

“Caden is a talent experienced in this league which will strengthen our midfielder,” said Ally Mackay, Managing Director of DC United and football officer. “At 22, he already has a wide experience of MLS, and we can’t wait to integrate it into the group.”

Clark recorded six assists in 26 MLS games (17 departures) this season with Montreal.

“We would first like to thank Caden for his contribution to the club in the past year in Montreal. We wish him the best for the rest of his career,” said Luca Saputo, principal director of recruitment and the Montreal sports methodology. “This transaction is part of our sports strategy and gives us additional flexibility in this transfer window.”

American international, Clark has 11 goals and 18 assists in 105 MLS career games (59 departures) with New York Red Bulls (2020-22), Minnesota United (2024) and Montreal (2024-25).
