D’Angelo funeral held in Virginia after death at 51: report

D’Angelo was reportedly buried after his death at the age of 51 from pancreatic cancer.
HuffPost assistant editor Philip Lewis shared a funeral program for D’Angelo’s friend Bill McGee this indicated that the musician’s memorial service took place on Saturday, November 1, in Henrico, Virginia. According to the document, Bishop Ralph V. Robinson led the service and delivered a eulogy for the “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” singer, while Pastor James Bryant delivered a special video message. Stevie Wonderharpist Younger Brandee and D’Angelo’s former backing band The Soultronics all performed musical selections.
The “celebration of life” program also included a message from D’Angelo’s loved ones: “We would like to express our deep gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of support. …Through music, love and light, the spirit of Michael D’Angelo will shine forever. »

D’Angelo’s family confirmed the shocking news on October 14 that the musician (real name Michael Eugene Archer) had succumbed after a long battle with cancer.

The four-time Grammy Award winner is survived by three children. He shared his son Michael Archer with the late soul singer Angie Pierredied in a car accident at age 63 in March. He also had a daughter Imani Archer and son Archer from Morocco other relationships. All three children were on the list of speakers at his “celebration of life.”
In October, D’Angelo’s eldest son, Michael, shared his heartbreak over the tragedy of losing both his parents in the same calendar year.
“I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time, as this has been a very difficult and sad year for me,” Michael, 27, said.
