Brandon Bussi made 24 saves and held the shootout to continue his career-high pace to begin an NHL career as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 on Sunday in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Andrei Svechnikov scored in the three-round shootout for the Hurricanes, who have won three straight via shootout and extended their winning streak to four games total. Bussi won 11 of his first 12 NHL games, extending his league record by one win.

William Carrier and Taylor Hall scored first-period goals for the Hurricanes, who also beat the Flyers 4-3 in a shootout Saturday night in Philadelphia.

Jamie Drysdale scored for the Flyers with 53 seconds left in the first period and Trevor Zegras tied it with 1:52 left in regulation, with Philadelphia using an extra attacker. Dan Vladar stopped 31 shots.

The Flyers have scored at least one team point in seven of Vladar’s last eight starts.

All three meetings between the teams this season were settled after regulation. The Flyers had 15 shots in the third period, none in overtime and 26 in total.

Carolina’s Seth Jarvis assessed a penalty on Philadelphia’s Bobby Brink for tripping 42 seconds into overtime, but the Hurricanes didn’t take advantage.

Philadelphia didn’t have a power play on Saturday, but the Flyers were active in the second period with a power play. Still, Bussi made three saves in the first 70 seconds of the penalty kill before Drysdale took a hooking penalty that put the teams back on level terms for a while.

Philadelphia also had an abbreviated third-period power play that was reduced, with Noah Cates receiving a tripping penalty.

Vladar stopped the Hurricanes on several occasions when they seemed poised to extend their lead. Carolina held a 23-11 edge in shots through two periods.

Carrier opened the scoring 5:44 into the game with a shot from the top of the slot that made it through traffic.

Hall’s power play goal came following a redirection of defenseman Alexander Nikishin’s delivery.

Drysdale’s third goal of the season came on a delayed penalty.
