Current AEW star reportedly received offer from WWE to return for retirement

WWE has attracted some of AEW’s biggest names in recent years. If recent reports are to be believed, another veteran could be on his way back to the Stamford-based promotion.
Chris Jericho’s future with All Elite Wrestling is uncertain amid rumors that his contract will expire at the end of this year.
Thanks for the submission!
As of this writing, it is unclear if he has signed a contract extension, but Tony Khan has expressed his desire to see the Canadian wrestler end his in-ring career in AEW.
Jericho has not been seen on television since his appearance on The Learning Tree on the April 9, 2025 edition of Dynamite. He last wrestled at Wrestle Dynasty, where he lost his ROH World Championship to Bandido.
In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer NewsletterDave Meltzer reported that all signs point to Chris Jericho returning to his old stomping grounds.
The wrestling reporter noted that World Wrestling Entertainment even offered The Demo God a retirement storyline. If nothing is yet set in stone, his return is expected in early 2026.
“It’s a Jericho decision and all the signs are pointing in WWE’s direction. I know WWE has offered him a retirement scenario and those at WWE have said that’s what they would be interested in. Others are expecting him to be there early next year but nothing is confirmed.”
Chris Jericho doesn’t rule out a potential return to WWE
In an interview with The daily mail A few months ago, Chris Jericho made it clear that he is not leaving AEW just yet.
“The best thing that can happen in wrestling is AEW, and the fact that there are two huge promotions you can choose from only makes things better for the guys, it makes things better for the fans and everyone in between, so I’m not going anywhere for a while.”
However, the AEW Original hasn’t completely ruled out a return to the sports entertainment juggernaut.
“I’m still with AEW at the moment. Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it, we just have to see what happens, but the best thing that can happen is you have two great teams that you can play for, and that makes everything bigger and more exciting.”
The Champion has done almost everything there is to offer in All Elite Wrestling.
Will he make a surprise appearance at the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia? Only time will tell.
