The future of Marc Guehi has taken another twist, with reports suggesting that Crystal Palace would plan to allow the defender in England to join Liverpool if Joe Gomez moves in the other direction on a season loan.
According to the BBC, Palace plans to ask Gomez as part of the package.
Liverpool is determined to strengthen their defensive options before closing the window and see Guehi as a higher target. The Reds have already filed an offer of 35 million pounds sterling, according to some reports.
Palace responded by requesting an improved package which includes 5 million pounds Sterling in additional modules and a 10%sales clause.

Guehi, 25, has only one year on his contract, which means that Palace may lose it for free in 2026 if no sale is agreed.
Guehi would have agreed personal conditions with Liverpool, leaving the clubs to rid a final agreement.
Palace’s interest in Gomez arrives at a time when the defender had trouble for regular minutes in Anfield. The 28-year-old only played 18 minutes this season, on the victory of Liverpool 4-2 over Bournemouth, but is not used against Newcastle United.
Liverpool is reluctant to use Gomez as weight. Arne Slot always appreciates her experience and leadership, and would prefer to structure a right cash agreement for Guehi.

At the same time, the palace looked at reinforcements elsewhere. They explored the possibility of signing Manuel Akanji from Manchester City, but the Swiss international is not convinced by a move to the Selhurst park.
This uncertainty makes the potential departure of Guehi even more complex, because the palate will not want to weaken their rear line without credible replacement.
With the Guehi contract which turns and Liverpool growing hard, the next few days could prove to be decisive.
