Cowboys overtake Commanders, who lose Jayden Daniels

Dak Prescott passed for 264 yards and three touchdowns and the Dallas Cowboys beat the visiting Washington Commanders 44-22 on Sunday.
Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels left the game on the first drive of the third quarter with an apparent right hamstring injury after a strip-sack-fumble.
Cee Dee Lamb caught five passes for 110 yards and a touchdown for Dallas (3-3-1) in his return after missing three games with an ankle injury. Jake Ferguson passed for two touchdowns and Javonte Williams had 116 yards and a touchdown.
Prescott, who improved to 7-0 at home against Washington, completed 21 of 30 passes as the NFL’s top-ranked offense gained 409 yards.
Daniels finished 12 of 22 for 156 yards and a touchdown. He also ran to score points.
Washington (3-4) was without injured receivers Terry McLaurin (quadriceps), Deebo Samuel (heel) and Noah Brown (groin/knee).
Dallas led 27-15 at halftime and Daniels fumbled when sacked in Dallas territory. The Cowboys recovered on their 45-yard line. Williams quickly ran 17 yards to the 30 and Prescott then hit Ferguson for a 5-yard touchdown.
Marcus Mariota replaced Daniels. On third-and-6 at the Dallas 38, he was pressured and his pass was intercepted by DaRon Bland, who raced 68 yards for the touchdown and the lead was 41-15.
Washington responded, driving 53 yards with Chris Rodriguez, Jr. scoring from 3 with 2:35 left in the quarter to bring Washington within 41-22.
Dallas took a 7-0 lead on the first drive. A 37-yard pass interference penalty gave Dallas first-and-goal at the 2 and Williams scored on the next play.
After Williams was tackled for a safety, Washington recovered the ball. Daniels hit Chris Moore 44 yards to the 9th and found Zach Ertz for a 5-yard touchdown. The two-point try failed and the Commanders led 8-7.
Leading 10-8, the Cowboys started from their own 26. Prescott threw deep to Lamb, who caught it around the 35 and completed the 74-yard touchdown play with 4:27 left in the first quarter.
With Washington leading 20-8 midway through the second quarter, Daniels led the Commanders 68 yards for a score. Jeremy McNichols ran 19 yards to the 1 and Daniels arrived with 45 seconds left.
That was enough time for Prescott to hit George Pickens down the left sideline for 44 yards, Adams to run 33 yards to the 2 and Prescott to hit Ferguson for a touchdown.
