Conor Gallagher now keen on move to Tottenham with £35m bid submitted
Tottenham Hotspur are now close to completing a deal to sign a ‘special’ star, who wants to move to north London, with a £40million bid being tabled.
Spurs close to agreeing to new signing amid Frank uncertainty
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has suggested there are internal doubts over Thomas Frank, following the most recent setback, with Tottenham exiting the FA Cup at the hands of Aston Villa at the weekend.
The transfer expert said: “The Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy are divided over the future of Thomas Frank, but the club remains determined not to make a change this season.
“Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham thought he had found the right man in the summer when he lured Frank across London from Brentford.
“However, sources now tell us that Venkatesham was warned by some members of the Spurs hierarchy that the former Arsenal man was not a good fit in terms of his system and the Tottenham players already in place.”
The Lilywhites are yet to pull the trigger on Frank, with the board now having to decide whether to back their manager or sack him, and it appears they have opted for the former.
Santos defender Souza is set to sign for Tottenham, and it appears the Brazilian ace won’t be the only new arrival, with David Ornstein confirming they are now closing a deal for Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher.
In a report for The Athletic, Ornstein says Spurs have submitted a €40m (£35m) bid for the midfielder, which is expected to be accepted, and a decision is now close, given Gallagher is keen to move to north London, despite rival interest from Aston Villa.
Fabrizio Romano has since confirmed that Villa have also agreed a deal, but the former Chelsea player opted to move to N17 instead.
The midfielder has struggled to find game time this season, and a return to England is being considered, with a place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the 2026 World Cup still up for grabs.
‘Special’ Gallagher could be wise to sign for Tottenham
The former Chelsea player would arrive at Tottenham with plenty of experience in England, making 136 Premier League appearances during spells with the Blues and Crystal Palace, during which he collected 18 goals and 13 assists.
Tottenham pursue £61m keeper with Vicario keen to leave
Spurs are looking to sign a new goalkeeper.
At Stamford Bridge, the 25-year-old received praise from Petr Cech, who said: “He is one of the players who always cares about winning and the club.
“You discover that even young players can have special abilities to become a leader. Conor is one of these players. He’s always worked hard, he’s always cared, and he always does his best.”
It would make sense to bring in a new midfielder, as Joao Palhinha’s future is uncertain and Gallagher’s Premier League experience could make him a wise addition.
