Cody Rhodes gets a major grudge match at WWE SNME XLIII

Former WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has officially begun his redemption arc, following his loss of the undisputed title to Drew McIntyre in a huge upset last week.

Tonight on SmackDown, The American Nightmare came out to talk about his loss, making it official that he wouldn’t get a rematch against McIntyre because that was a clause signed in his contract with Drew. He’s now looking to finish his story the old-fashioned way and has announced himself for the traditional men’s Royal Rumble match to punch his ticket to WrestleMania and get a shot at the lost strap.

Additionally, Rhodes even went after Jacob Fatu, warning him that his receipt was coming, and then left. Later on the same show, The Samoan Werewolf appeared and called The American Nightmare over for some man-to-man talk, then removed his jacket to fight.

Cody wasted no time rushing up the ramp and donning a tracksuit, and the two got into a heated brawl. Officials had to separate them. WWE then officially announced that Cody would face Jacob Fatu in a singles match on Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIII.

Jacob Fatu attacked the WWE champion

Since his return, the former United States champion has given himself a mission: to attack everyone. New titleholder Drew McIntyre kicked off tonight’s Friday Night SmackDown.

The Scottish Warrior’s promotion was interrupted by Randy Orton, who swore that he had beaten Drew for the WWE Title in the past and intended to repeat history. Before McIntyre could respond, Fatu came down the ramp and began attacking the champion, causing him to run away from the crowd with his strap.

That said, it will be interesting to see what plans Triple H and the Stamford-based promotion’s creative team have in store for the Rhodes vs. Fatu saga.
