From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank the ICC and Jay Shah – Rohit Sharma
The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will take place from February 7 to March 8, 2026, across 8 different venues in India and Sri Lanka.
Legend Rohit Sharma, who is currently active only in ODI cricket at the international level, is the only Indian player to win two T20 World Cup titles – one as a player and one as captain.
Speaking about being appointed as the ambassador of the tournament, Rohit Sharma said he was delighted to become the first active cricketer to be appointed as the ICC brand ambassador.
“Good evening everyone. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank the ICC and Jay Shah. It is a huge honor to be an ambassador for an ICC event. I have just been told that no active player has ever been announced as an ICC ambassador, so it is a great privilege for me and a great honor as well. I am very grateful and very grateful,” Rohit said.
Hopefully we can create the same magic we created last year – Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma further said that he hopes to see the Indian team recreate the magic of 2024 and win the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 trophy. He elaborated:
“I hope we can create the same magic that we created last year, even if it will be with a different group of boys this time. Winning an ICC trophy is a huge challenge. I have seen it personally over the years – I have completed 18 years of international cricket. I was fortunate to win two recently and two early in my career.
“But in the middle, there was a long drought where we couldn’t win an ICC trophy, and I know how desperate we were as players, as a team and as a management to get our hands on a trophy. To finally come out and win these trophies was really good. You can see the amount of happiness it brings to the country with the sport we play.
“Now, sitting on the other side and watching the T20 World Cup – after playing all the World Cups and not being there – will definitely be different. But I’m getting used to sitting at home and watching a few matches. It’s different, but I’m enjoying it, whether it’s sitting at home or in the stadium watching the women win. I’ll get to that in a moment,” Rohit added.
