“ DESSONS questions, does not provide answers’: what the world pilots say on Air India Plane Crash Report

The International Federation of the Association of Airlines Pilots (IFALPA), after examining the preliminary report published by the India accident survey office (AAIB), said it raises many questions but does not provide the answers. The Association of Pilots of India Airlines (ALPA-India), which had previously raised questions about the report and transparency of the process, is part of IFALPA.

The group of world pilots warned against the hasty conclusions derived from the report. “As a reminder, a preliminary report is only the means of communication used for the rapid dissemination of the data obtained during the early stages of the survey and contains only factual information and an indication of the advancement of the survey,” he said, adding that such initial reports are published within 30 days of the incident.

“Although this preliminary report by its very nature raises many questions, it does not provide any answers, and any extrapolation of its content can only be considered as assumptions, which is not useful for the good conduct of the investigation,” he said, urging all parties to refrain from speculation and allow the complete investigation to manage its course.

“The victims, including the families of the crew and the Air India 171 passengers, deserve our collective professionalism while the full investigation is carried out,” he said.

Meanwhile, Alpa-India plans to have legal action in the investigation into the Air India airplane accident. This follows the concerns raised by the president of the ALPA with regard to the lack of transparency in the investigation before the publication of the Crash report. The ALPA allegedly alleged that the AAIB preliminary report shows a bias for the pilot error. The association stressed that the preliminary report, available on the AAIB website, has no signature.

After the release of the report, the ALPA expressed his surprise in the face of the secrecy surrounding the investigation and said that the qualified personnel would not be involved. The president of the Alfa-India, Captain Sam Thomas, said: “We believe that the investigation is motivated in a direction by assuming the guilt of the pilots and that we strongly oppose this line of thought.”

The Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu, said on Saturday that the report on the India Air accident of June 12 is preliminary. He urged the public and the media not to draw conclusions until the results of the final survey were published.
