In August, the “Dead to Me” star revealed she was hospitalized after developing a serious kidney infection that left her “screaming” in pain. The actress shared that the health problems began during a trip to Europe to visit family. “I felt fine for a few hours, then I had to lie down because my stomach was really hurting,” she recalls. When she returned home to California after an 11-hour flight and her symptoms worsened, she went straight to the hospital and refused to leave until she got answers.
Applegate was soon admitted to a Los Angeles hospital, where the pain intensified. “From my back to my stomach, I’m in so much pain,” she said. “I’m screaming and they ordered an emergency CT scan at 2 a.m..” Doctors discovered she had infections in both kidneys, requiring immediate treatment. “So I’m here because of this kidney infection and I have to get intravenous antibiotics right now,” she explained from the hospital.
