Chad announces the suspension of visas to American citizens in response to Trump Travel Ban – National

Chad president Mahamat Idriss Deby announced that his country suspend the issuance of visas to American citizens in response to the Trump administration’s decision to ban Chadiens from visiting the United States.
President Donald Trump raised a policy characteristic of his first mandate on Wednesday when he announced the ban on visas on 12 countries, including Chad, accusing them of having a “deficient” screening and verifications, and historically refusing to resume their own citizens who have overvalued in the United States.
The new ban targets Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
There will also be increased restrictions on visitors to seven other people in the new travel policy, which comes into force Monday at 12:01 am

In an article on Facebook, Chad president said Thursday that he ordered his government to suspend visas to American citizens “in accordance with the principles of reciprocity”.
“Chad has no planes to offer, no billions of dollars to give, but Chad has his dignity and pride,” said Deby, referring to the luxury plane of $ 400 million offered to his administration as a gift from the leading family of Qatar.
The Republic of Congo calls for a mistake
The new travel policy has sparked various reactions from Africa, whose countries represent seven of the 12 countries affected by the prohibition of Pure and simple visa of Trump with certain exemptions.
In the Republic of Congo, government spokesman Thierry Moungalla said that he thought the country was among the people affected due to an “misunderstanding” on an armed attack in the United States with the “erroneous” authors of the Republic of Congo.
“Obviously, the Congo is not a terrorist country, which does not house any terrorist, is not known to have a terrorist vocation. We therefore think that it is a misunderstanding and I think that in the coming hours, the competent diplomatic services of the government will contact the American authorities here,” he said in the capital of Brazzaville.
In Sierra Leone, among countries with increased travel restrictions, the Minister of Information, Tchern Bah, said that the country has committed to responding to the concerns that caused the prohibition.
“We will work with the American authorities to ensure progress,” he added.
