CFB Analyst David Pollack Slams Texas Tech WR for ‘Extremely Clear’ Missed Two-Handed Push Officials During Landing Replay

Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton connected with wide receiver Eakin on a 33-yard touchdown pass to take the lead in the Big 12 football championship game. Eakin and a BYU defensive back competed for the ball, but it was the wide receiver who came out on top.

However, college football analyst David Pollack believes the touchdown should not have stood. Pollack wrote on X (formerly Twitter),

“We’ve seen all these replays of the clear touchdown, but we haven’t seen one to see the extremely clear two-handed push from the TT WR? It should have been offensive pass interference and it wasn’t debatable.”

The referee initially called the play short, but upon review ruled it the first touchdown of the contest. This is Coy Eakin’s fifth touchdown of the campaign. The speedy receiver is in his fourth season with the Red Raiders, and he looks to close out his college football career with a deep postseason run and potentially a national championship.

Texas Tech Red Raiders lead BYU Cougars at halftime

The Red Raiders have the upper hand in this team competition 11-1. The score is 13-7 at halftime.

So far, the competition has been cagey, as both teams prioritize defense. This is their second contest of the season, with Texas Tech winning the first by a score of 29-7. This proved to be BYU’s only regular season loss.

As for Texas Tech, their only loss came at the hands of Arizona State University. The Red Raiders are unlikely to get a chance for revenge this campaign.

The game was well balanced at the start of the half. Both teams remain in contention and their defenses look forward to the challenge. The game will need a moment of magic from the offense or special teams to spark a shootout showdown in this potential playoff decider.
